A book is a literary compass that has the potential to direct our thoughts and actions:

"Everything we read stimulates our mind to think, and what we think determines what we desire, and desires are the seedbed of our actions. Given this iron law of human nature--from reading to thinking, to desiring, to acting--we are shaping our destiny by the ideas we choose to have enter our minds through print." - Fr. John Hardon, S.J., The Catholic Lifetime Reading Plan

Welcome to my own personal exploration of life through reading the great books of the world.

Save a Reader - Stomp Out Manchegan Madness!

Today I decided to save a life. If you've been reading Literary Compass lately then you know about my battle with Manchegan Madness. Well today I decided to do something about it.

I created the Manchegan Madness blog, whose mission is to educate the world about this insidious disorder. Please help me stop this devastating disease before it's too late.

Do you know someone who's built a hobbit-hole? Does one of your "friends" have a cat named Chaucer? Then visit Manchegan Madness and tell me about it so I can share it with the world.

Together we can make a difference.
